Italian market up in the second quarter
Foreign trade grows, but a moderate pace
In the first six months of 2019, 7,532 construction equipment have been sold on the Italian market. In deeper details, earth-moving machines sold were 7,078, up 15% compared to the same period of 2018. Road equipment sold were 274, with an increase of 18% year-over-year.
“The trend of strong growth for the Italian market is confirmed also in the first 6 months of 2019 – said Antonio Strati, Unacea councilor in charge of the statistical activities. This is an important result both for our industry and country. The Italian industry of construction equipment has been able to face the years of crisis thanks to the investment in internationalization. At present, also the internal market seems to go back to significant sales levels, supported also by the fleet replacement and in an overall positive economic scenario. In order to maintain the growth trend it is crucial to boost the attractivity of Italy as destination of investments. The major infrastructural works represent a further opportunity for development.”
The foreign trade trend is positive, even if at a moderate pace. According to the last report of the Samoter Outlook, realised by Prometeia with the collaboration of Unacea, export of construction equipment between January and April 2019 reached €992 million, with an increase of 1.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2018.
